The Trail des Mines is a unique race in Rumelange (Luxembourg). The last three kilometers take place inside a former iron mine. In the underground gallery, the temperature is a constant 10°C. A helmet and a headlamp are mandatory.
For its 4th edition, the Smartform Trail des Mines once again offers two distances, 14 km and 20 km, with a limited number of participants of 700 runners. The event combines physical exertion, industrial heritage, and an extraordinary experience in the heart of Luxembourg's former mining region.
14km Trail - Intermediate
Discover trail running through forests, fields and 3 km of underground tunnels. An incredible adventure accessible to experienced trail runners.
20km Trail - Advanced
The complete Smartform Trail des Mines experience. A challenging course through the mining heritage of Rumelange with extended trail sections and underground passages.

Each runner must bring their own helmet (e.g., a bicycle helmet), a headlamp (cell phones are not allowed), and a sweater. During the last 3 kilometers through the mine, the maximum temperature is 10°C! If the outside temperature is high, the difference with the mine is extreme. Therefore, we recommend wearing a sweater to avoid thermal shock.
Your helmet, headlamp, and sweater must be left at the checkout when you pick up your race bib. Our team will pack everything into a bag and leave it, along with your race number, at the mine entrance. A transition area is set up in front of the mine where you can collect your belongings.
Wearing a helmet and using a headlamp are mandatory in the mine. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from the race!
We provide 3 aid stations along the 14-kilometer race course and 3 aid stations along the 20-kilometer race course. In addition, a refreshment station is planned at the finish line.
The awards ceremony takes place near the information point at the National Iron Mining Museum. The Rumelange aperitif also takes place there, with food and drinks stalls and live music.
Changing rooms and showers (separate areas for men and women) are available to runners at the "Will Hoffmann" sports hall in Rumelange. After the race, a shuttle will run continuously between the finish area and the sports hall.
The results will be available on our website www.tdm.lu the day after the race.
