In partnership with the rainy days festival at the Philharmonie, the Théâtres de la Ville present Seneca's intense portrayal of Medea in a French production that merges ancient Greek tragedy with the artistry of Japanese Noh. In this unique version, the sacred horror of tragedy and the ceremonial beauty of Noh combine as the dark forces in Seneca’s story are embodied through choreography and music. The cries of drums and flute evoke the irreparable crime to come, as Medea, princess of Colchis, glides on stage, driven by vengeance beyond humanity. The first ever Noh performance in French.
