Course: Philosophy of Self, Identity, and Belonging
"The unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates.
Who am I?
What makes me?
Can words ever truly express who we are?
How do sense of self and feeling of belonging impact our personal, social, and professional lives?
Join us for a lively and welcoming workshop exploring how we understand ourselves, how identity changes over time, and how language shapes who we are. Together, through roundtable and pair work, we will answer questions about identity, consciousness, and belonging (from whether the "self" is real or an illusion, to how the words we speak and are spoken to us might shape the people we become).
Drawing inspiration from great thinkers like Descartes, Sartre, and Austin, we will explore how timeless philosophical ideas about self, identity, and sense of belonging connect to everyday life and personal experience.
Join this workshop and share your thoughts, listen to others, and leave seeing yourself (and your words) in a new light. Knowing ourselves helps us live and work with purpose.
NO background in philosophy is needed; just your curiosity, openness, and a willingness to wonder out loud.
