Reinhard Kleist presents his comic biography on the 10th anniversary of David Bowie's death.
In 1976, at a pivotal moment in his life, David Bowie left Los Angeles for West Berlin. Reinhard Kleist recounts Bowie's Berlin years, marked by encounters with Romy Haag and Iggy Pop, and where his music took on a visionary dimension in the Hansa Studios near the Berlin Wall. In Berlin, characters like Ziggy Stardust, Halloween Jack, and the Thin White Duke became David Bowie.
The event will be accompanied by the "Berliner Mythen" exhibition of the Goethe-Institut, based on Reinhard Kleist's comic of the same name. Moderation by Stefan Börnchen (University of Luxembourg), an expert in music, literature, and comics. Reinhard Kleist is one of the most awarded German comic artists, having won the Max-und Moritz-Preis three times, most recently in 2018.
