Takeover Thursday - Anthrophonic Criticism: Reclaiming Quiet
Join us for an eclectic Takeover Thursday at the Konschthal for each exhibition. These events offer a chance to rediscover the exhibitions through the eyes of our guests. Each evening is unique—conceived by speakers from diverse fields and structured around evolving themes related to the exhibitions. Through concerts, readings, talks, performances, workshops, and much more, the Konschthal reinvents itself.
Echoing the "state of noise" exhibition, the Konschthal invites Sam Erpelding to imagine an evening around the themes that run through the exhibition.
Anthrophonic Criticism: Reclaiming Quiet invites listeners to broaden their perception beyond human hearing and to attune themselves to how non-human beings perceive and experience the noise produced by human activity. Through acousmatic performances and environmental sound art, the evening explores the pervasive noise that permeates the soundscapes of the Anthropocene—an often imperceptible byproduct of expanding economic systems.
This constant acoustic presence transforms habitats, influences behaviors and redefines what we call "wild nature".
