UniPopCiné Season 16: Lesson 6: "Screens" (Popular University of Cinema)
Lesson 6: "Screens" presented by Stéphane Goudet (critic, artistic director of the cinema "Le Méliès" in Montreuil and lecturer in film studies at University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne).
Film-conference featuring excerpts from selected movies. Cinema has always highlighted its privileged setting, the movie theater. Now, cinema also lives on other platforms: TV, museums, the Internet, smartphones, and social media. These new ways of experiencing cinema, such as multi-screen consumption and simultaneous device usage, are changing cinephilia and viewers' attention.
Some directors are integrating these new codes into their creations, making films tailored for social media or new screens. How can these uses be productive and creative? Stéphane Goudet offers an update on the evolution of cinema's place and its audience today.
Interlude "snack & drink".
Followed by a screening of the film "Personal Shopper" (France-Germany-Czech Republic, 2016) by Olivier Assayas, starring Kristen Stewart, Anders Danielsen Lie, Lars Eidinger (Best Director Award, Cannes 2016).
