The Tallis Scholars

The work that the Vatican kept secret for a century: for more than 100 years, Allegri’s Miserere could only be heard within the walls of the Sistine Chapel, as the Vatican forbade anyone from copying the score. It is said that a young Mozart, aged 14, memorized it after listening once, then wrote it down when he returned home. The Tallis Scholars perform the Miserere here alongside works by Palestrina, des Près, Festa, and Morales – all composers who were once part of the papal chapel choir. In this concert, they come to life again under the vault of the Philharmonie's Foyer.
