Yannick Tossing is an artist based in Luxembourg with a strong academic background and extensive professional experience in the arts. He holds a research master's degree in visual arts from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Strasbourg and a master's in comparative arts and media studies from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is engaged in a long-term research project focused on representing the challenges posed by Huntington's disease, a first-hand experience through his father for over fifteen years.
His work explores the physical and cognitive transformations caused by the disease, proposing a visual language to address this often inexpressible condition. After previously exploring photography, collage, and immersive tools such as virtual and augmented reality, he has now returned to sculpture. He is experimenting with plaster to create works inspired by everyday objects, highlighting the overlooked challenges that arise as the disease progresses. The chair, a recurring element in his work and a symbol of stability, becomes, through distortion, a reflection of imbalance and loss of control. With these creations, Yannick Tossing seeks to make the lived experience of Huntington's disease and the evolving relationship between body and environment visible.
