Literary Tuesdays - Anna Vassileva, Sang Sommeil - birth of a dystopian novel made in Luxembourg
Anna Vassileva, a writer and researcher based in Luxembourg, will take part in the Literary Tuesdays where she will present her dystopian novel Sang Sommeil. The author is interested in the links between science, society, and imagination. With this debut novel, she offers a striking reflection on the dangers of a hyper-technological future and the fragility of our freedoms.
In 2054, an insomnia pandemic decimates the population of the northern hemisphere. To survive, people depend on Somnibulles, headgear that produces artificial sleep, controlled by the powerful company Hypnos. Sleep becomes a rare resource and a surveillance tool. Vanila Assevan, a scientist and single mother, joins Hypnos to save her sick son. By uncovering the system's secrets, she is confronted with manipulation, total societal control, and choices that could change humanity's future.
A dystopian novel, Sang Sommeil explores technology, the loss of freedom, and the excesses of a security-obsessed world.
