Do you read? Did you know that about 40% of books published in the Czech Republic are translations? Do you know what a translator does? Or a publishing editor? Or how long it takes to translate a page? How does a translator's life change if one of their authors wins the Nobel Prize?
Find out the answers to these questions at the Czech infusion with the renowned Czech translator from English, Viktor Janiš, author of over 150 translations of Anglo literary works. He has translated Louis de Bernières in full and also works with authors like Margaret Atwood, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Michel Faber.
The evening will be hosted by Oldřiška Čtvrtníčková, a translator at the European Commission.
