The plot, inspired by the same novel as Wong’s film but treated in an over-the-top style, follows a fallen princess who teams up with a group of eccentric warriors to retrieve a sacred martial arts manual. At the heart of this parody, Leslie Cheung blows up his romantic icon image by playing a narcissistic, eccentric and hilarious swordsman.
