La somme de mon seum is based on a single continuous image: a traditional teapot being brought to a boil. Shot on analog film, the piece develops, through the build-up of pressure rather than release, a slow and subtle rise in tension — a simmering anger. The text, structured in four parts, recounts racist experiences lived at sixteen, twenty-one, twenty-six, and thirty-one years old.
Each fragment focuses less on the event itself and more on its persistence: the internal work of a body and a mind still trying to understand what cannot be fully named. Smoke crosses the frame and overflows it, refusing containment. Mehdi Zion's practice is rooted in analog, non-chemical film techniques, exploring light, time, and the intrinsic properties of materials.
