Over several seasons, Les Métaboles have established themselves as one of the best vocal ensembles of our time. For this new performance, the founding conductor Léo Warynski creates a sonic ritual shaped around major women composers from the 16th to the 20th and 21st centuries. Renaissance Italian Maddalena Casulana offers a striking echo to the piece by Cassandra Miller, a modern tribute to the polyphonies of Thomas Tallis. Wrapping the audience in a circle of voices, American composer Meredith Monk paints this rare moment when day gives way to night, while Giulia Lorusso draws inspiration from the descent of the witch Circe into the abyss, mesmerizing us in the dark. Breathtaking!
