Show & CultureShow & CultureThis is one of the most famous duels in the history of music. In 1781, Mozart triumphed at the court of Vienna when a new rival, Muzio Clementi, appeared. Emperor Joseph II invited both musicians to compete in a concert, each performing their own compositions. Ultimately, the monarch declared both musicians winners. Led by his Ensemble de L’Encyclopédie, fortepianist Florent Albrecht 'reenacts the match' with two famous concertos by the Austrian composer and the only surviving concertante work by his Italian colleague. Virtuosity, cheerfulness, purity, and drama await in this high-level musical encounter.
