Screening: Our Body is an Expanding Star
As part of Squatfabrik #3, this special screening is included in the Body/Land cycle, bringing together two films that explore ancestral memory, ecology, and colonial history through intimate themes such as family, bodies, and everyday landscapes.
The diptych features Green Desert and Our Body is an Expanding Star, blending documentary, essay, and performance to reveal the hidden connections between damaged landscapes and wounded bodies through simple actions: walking, filming, dancing, remembering.
Our Body is an Expanding Star, directed by Semilites Hernández Velasco & Tania Hernández Velasco (Mexico, 2025), is a poetic film about nature, family memory, and identity, following Semilites’ transition as a metaphor of a growing seed. The film reflects on transmission of memory and collective forms of care, going beyond colonial narratives.
