According to a Japanese legend, Orihime, the celestial weaver, and Hikoboshi, the herd keeper, fell madly in love. But absorbed by their happiness, they neglected their duties. To punish them, the Emperor of Heaven separated them on each side of the Milky Way, allowing them to meet only one night a year: the 7th day of the 7th month. For over 1,500 years, Japan has celebrated this love story through Tanabata, the Festival of Stars. On this occasion, write your wishes on a small colored paper (tanzaku) and hang it on a bamboo branch, a symbol of growth, strength, and hope. Your wishes could be dreams, goals, thank-yous, or promises to yourself. To celebrate this evening, Mariko San, our wagashi artisan trained in Kyoto, will offer you creations inspired by Tanabata. Genuine edible works of art, with delicate forms and colors evoking the starry sky, to accompany this moment of poetry.
