The film "Dany Cage, A Story of Emancipation" will be screened at the legendary Flying Dutchman nightclub in Beaufort, where the fictional scenes were filmed in July 2022. This screening is part of the Flying Dutchman's 50th anniversary celebrations. This docudrama directed by François Baldassare retraces the birth, life, and demise of a psychedelic rock club in Luxembourg in the late 1960s: The Dany Cage, located on Rue Beaumont in the heart of Luxembourg City. The legendary venue existed only from 1969 to 1972 but left a lasting mark on its contemporaries, during an era of yearning for greater freedom (Vietnam War, Summer of Love, May '68, Woodstock). The documentary, constructed from interviews with 18 witnesses of the time, archival footage, and fictional reenactments, shows how music played a decisive role in this process of emancipation. Produced by Canopée Produktion asbl, with the support of the Luxembourg Film Fund, Ministry of Culture, municipality of Beaufort, and the Flying Dutchman. The film has received awards and official selections at several international film festivals and was released in Luxembourg cinemas in 2024.
