Every week in Luxembourg, two sexual assaults are reported and, on average, a complaint for the rape of a minor is filed every eight days. In addition, 493 cases of assault and battery were recorded in 2023. These chilling figures highlight the urgent need to strengthen victim protection, especially for children. Many dysfunctions prevent child victims of violence from being protected: not listening to the child, accusations of 'parental alienation', omission of medical evidence, too many placements in foster care or with the parent suspected of violence...
