Chronicle of the Years of Fire (Ahdat sanawovach el-djamr) is an Algerian film released in 1975, directed by Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina. Presented in original version with English subtitles (vostEN), the film stars Yorgo Voyagis, Larbi Zekkal, Cheikh Nourredine, and Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina. Winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1975. The newly 4K-restored film unfolds in six chapters, spanning from the late 1930s to the start of the Algerian War of Independence in 1954. It follows Ahmed, a poor farmer, as he becomes involved in the rising nationalist movement. This epic chronicle depicts how individual grievances merge into collective consciousness and, ultimately, a movement for liberation.
