On October 24th, children and adults (children must be accompanied by an adult) are invited to dive into the poetry of magic lanterns. Guided by our mediator, you will create your own magic lantern, an ancient device that, long before cinema, allowed painted images to be projected to tell stories. For this workshop, we draw inspiration from the verse story by Luxembourgish writer Auguste Liesch: the tale of “Maus Ketti,” a little field mouse living in Burmerange, a charming Moselle village. Participants will be able to illustrate different scenes from the story on paper before projecting them using the magic lantern they created themselves. The experience will be complemented by a traditional snack, including a drink and a treat! This workshop is the perfect opportunity to understand how the first optical devices worked, explore the imagination of storytellers of the past, and create your own stories to share!
