In Romanian, păpuși means "dolls" – those familiar figures that a gesture, a glance, or a little imagination can lend a presence to. With Papusi, Jill Crovisier creates a dance piece for young audiences, drawing on object theatre and the world of puppetry. Alongside Jan Möllmer, she plays with shoes, fabrics, and recycled props that never stay what they are for long: they become, by turns, costumes, creatures, and playmates. Carried by a soundscape and original music born of a collaboration with Pascal Schumacher, the piece gently reminds us that every object, every being carries a value of its own – and a story worth telling.
