"A liberated man tells his story." This phrase is often used about Mickaël Délis and his first one-man show. But the journey to this point is far from straightforward. Alone on stage, with only a stool, a white shirt, and a piece of chalk, Mickaël Délis invokes his mother, school friends, therapist, and first loves to follow the thread of a childhood spent searching for how to become the "proper kind" of boy. Echoing Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex, the play questions models of masculinity in which everyone tries, more or less successfully, to find a place. With rapid character changes, biting self-mockery, and moments of vulnerability, the story unfolds without ever becoming a demonstration. A show that prefers flaws over certainties and ambiguity over ready-made answers.
