Political Thought in the Islamic World - Part 1

Serious Topics

A workshop on political thought with Norbert Campagna, focusing on the origins of Islam and the Middle Ages. To understand current events in the Islamic world, it is necessary to look back to the 7th century, when Islam emerged. Muslim thinkers addressed political questions very early on, and these remain influential today. In this first part, Norbert Campagna examines the emergence of Islam and the first political controversies in the Muslim world. Excerpts from Muslim mirrors for princes and other political texts will serve as the basis for the workshop. Prof. Dr. Norbert Campagna is a retired philosophy teacher and continues to teach philosophy at the University of Luxembourg.
