A lecture by Félicien Grand d’Esnon, research and exhibitions officer, devoted to Victor Brauner (1903–1966). A Dadaist and later Surrealist artist, Brauner developed work steeped in mystery and magic. His paintings and sculptures reveal a universe shaped by the Neolithic cultures of Romania and Moldova, occultism, the Kabbalah, the Tarot of Marseille and secret rites. Deciphering the signs in his works opens the door to this secret world, also marked in counterpoint by the traumatic events experienced by the artist.
