Astronomical Night Walk

A peaceful journey from the illuminated world to the natural night: a guided exploration of the sky, an outdoor scientific experience and a reflection on protecting darkness. The walk begins near the station and gradually leaves the lit streets behind, allowing participants to experience adaptation to darkness. Accompanied by two guides, the group learns to identify the cardinal points, recognise patterns in the sky and understand what is visible above Mersch. Binoculars and a digital telescope reveal details invisible to the naked eye. The walk compares more and less illuminated areas and explores the impact of artificial light on our view of the universe, wildlife and the night landscape.
