A world in ruins. The twilight of the gods. Deception leads to betrayal and devastation when Siegfried is tricked into betraying Brünnhilde. When she learns of her beloved’s innocence, Brünnhilde finally returns the ring to the Rhinemaidens and commands that Valhalla be consumed by flames. For the long-awaited finale of Wagner’s epic saga, director Barrie Kosky places this apocalyptic drama in the present day, full of dreamlike turmoil. Antonio Pappano, Honorary Conductor of the Royal Opera, conducts the score, including Siegfried’s Funeral March and Brünnhilde’s electrifying Immolation Scene. The cast features Elisabet Strid, Andreas Schager and Mika Kares, with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera Chorus.
