EFS Grand Est is organising its first webinar dedicated to rare blood groups: Thursday, 1 October, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (online, registration required: https://shorturl.at/WIujr ) Did you know that some blood groups are so rare that fewer than 4 people in 1,000 have them ❓ In France, many patients with sickle cell disease need regular transfusions. To treat them, it is necessary to find donors with the same blood characteristics, particularly people with rare blood groups that are compatible with these patients’ specific needs. People from, or with ancestors from, the African continent, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean are more likely to have a blood group that is particularly sought after for transfusions. You, your family, your friends… may have a blood group that is uncommon in France.
