In Jasmine Lee-Jones’s play, Cleo holes up in her bedroom to write a dissertation on structural racism when a tweet about Kylie Jenner triggers her anger. Under the hashtag #kyliejennerfidead, she posts anonymous messages about the appropriation of Black culture and stereotypes. The boundaries between her digital fantasies and real life begin to blur. This witty, fast-paced dark comedy addresses Black identity, beauty ideals, cultural appropriation, racism, queerness and wokeism through the shifting worlds of young people.
