The Doll (Lalka) at CinEast 2026

Show & Culture

When love becomes obsession – and money still cannot buy what you want most… Ten days after its world premiere, The Doll (Lalka) arrives at CinEast. This new adaptation of one of Poland's most celebrated novels follows wealthy late-19th-century merchant Stanisław Wokulski in his passionate pursuit of aristocrat Izabela Łęcka. Alongside his friend Ignacy Rzecki, he navigates a world of high society, ambition, rivalry and intrigue, where love, status and money rarely play by the same rules. Directed by Maciej Kawalski, this Polish film stars Marcin Dorociński, Kamila Urzędowska, Marek Kondrat, Andrzej Seweryn and Krystyna Janda. Based on the novel by Bolesław Prus, it spectacularly reimagines a story of love, longing and social ambition.
