The Art of Negative Space

- Workshop
Discover a new way of seeing and creating by focusing on the shapes surrounding your subject rather than on the object itself. In this playful and experimental workshop, we will explore the concept of negative space in order to create expressive compositions inspired by the world around us. Whether we work from plants, interior spaces, still-life compositions or everyday objects, we will learn how shifting our attention to the spaces between and around shapes can simplify complex subjects and reveal unexpected forms and rhythms. This workshop encourages curiosity, observation and experimentation. It is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced artists who wish to relax and discover familiar subjects from a new perspective. Different materials and approaches may be explored throughout the session.
