Candlelight Musical Experience In the gentle glow of numerous candles, this concert presents two major works of Romantic chamber music: Louise Farrenc’s Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 30, and Franz Schubert’s famous “Trout Quintet.” Farrenc’s work combines expressive depth, formal clarity, and lively dialogue between the piano and strings. Schubert’s quintet offers a brighter and more lyrical contrast, with flowing melodies, transparent textures, and unusual instrumentation including a double bass. Together, these two masterpieces reveal the remarkable variety and expressive richness of the nineteenth-century piano quintet.
