From shoe factory to cultural center: La Schungfabrik and the Ferrum Museum
- conference
A former shoe factory, the Schungfabrik bears witness to an industrial past deeply rooted in the history of Tétange. Today transformed into a cultural centre, the site accommodates new activities and uses while preserving the traces of its industrial history. This conference will look back at the transformations the site has undergone, the choices that guided its new purpose, and the different ways in which an existing building can be adapted to accommodate new functions while retaining its historic character. Through this example, the conference will also address broader questions related to the transformation of industrial buildings and the different ways of allowing their memory, architecture and new uses to coexist. Speakers: Pascal Useldinger – Head of Service / Events Service, Kayl Municipal Administration Edmond Decker – Architect, Decker, Lammar et Associés SA Nathalie Jacoby – Interior architect, founder of NJOY
