Fewer spectators in Kinepolis rooms
LUXEMBOURG - The cinema chain recorded a drop in attendance in Luxembourg, even before the sites were closed, because of the health crisis.
Kinepolis saw fewer people pass in the first quarter of the year. Over the first three months of 2020, the decline was 25.2% compared to 2019, according to figures released on Wednesday. The closure of theaters due to the coronavirus crisis partly explains this figure, but not only. Including the period up to 12 March, cinemas in Luxembourg saw 10.6% fewer spectators.
The lower attendance is explained by "a decline in the cinematographic offer," says Anneleen Van Troos, spokesperson for Kinepolis, contacted by L'essentiel . This is "the overall offer of films, which was less attractive than the previous year".
