There are stories that must be heard, faces that must be seen, destinies that cannot be forgotten. The Musée National de la Résistance et des Droits Humains pays a moving tribute to the courage and memory of women deported during the war. A new exhibition we visited and greatly appreciated!

Women in wartime who resisted, suffered, fought, survived... Women in Conflict is a cycle of historical and artistic exhibitions highlighting  from March 2025 to September 2026 (yes 2026, you read it right) the commitment and struggle of these women in today's and yesterday's conflicts ✊🏻

And to open this cycle with a bang, the exhibition Resistance. Repression. Deportation. - Women from France and Luxembourg in the Ravensbrück concentration camp, 1942 - 1945 plunges you into the heart of a page of history as poignant as it is necessary.

So whether you're a history buff, a lover of beautiful buildings (and what a beautiful building it is, inside and out), a keen learner or a parent in search of a memorable outing... Stay put, we tell you all about the current exhibition 🏛️  🏛️

RESISTANCE. REPRESSION. DEPORTATION - A COMMITTED EXHIBITION

Before we get started, we'll give you a short history lesson! Thousands of women refused to be subjugated, resisting silently or loudly. Among them, 7,000 were deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp for their political commitment.

To find out more about the lives and courage of these women, here's how it works: cross the pretty park in front of the museum, enter the imposing building, walk through the impressive hall, descend the few steps of a slightly atypical staircase and prepare to cross paths with a dozen of them. They were journalists, seamstresses, liaison officers in France, art historians, rebels or nurses... and in this exhibition, they tell you their stories 📖

What we particularly liked: MNR doesn't just line up the facts, it brings them to life through words, faces, audio testimonies, letters, everyday objects, drawings, archives... 🎞️👚🗞️ And with the variety of these media, we let ourselves be carried away by these rather intense fragments of life without noticing the minutes (hours even) ticking by.So if you want to discover the adolescence of Denise Vernay, sister of Simone Veil, or the tragic fate of Élise Rivet, murdered after sacrificing herself for a friend, go and see this committed and meaningful exhibition that will certainly not leave you indifferent! PORTRAITS OF LUXEMBOURGISH WOMENPart of the exhibition is dedicated to some of the Luxemburgish women who have left their mark on history, sometimes in the shadows. And for the occasion, you'll find some lovely postcards bearing the effigy of these 7 women. And for the record, we brought back a card for each of our dear, tender and super-strong colleagues: Paula for Pauline, Madeleine for Mathilde, Lily for Léa, Mimy for eLfy, Marie for Marion and Cécile for Chloé 💌Price: 5€ for adults - free for under-21s, holders of Kulturpass, student card, ICOM card, Frënn vum Resistenzmusée and Luxembourg Card

📅 From March 8th to September 15th

📍 Musée National de la Résistance et des Droits Humains, Esch-sur-Alzette
