A city full of stories to tell... and museums to explore

Listen carefully, it won't take long: the Unesco-listed Bois du Cazier plunges you into the industrial epic. The Musée de la Photographie takes you on a visual journey into the silence of a former Carmelite monastery. The BPS22 shakes you up with a bold contemporary art program in a glass and iron building. The Musée des Beaux-Arts takes you on a journey through the history of Walloon art in a gallery-like former stable. The Maison de la Poterie lets you see the hands of yesterday and today shaping the clay. And if you like history with a capital H, head for the Ligny 1815 Museum or the Musée des Chasseurs à pied 🪖 If you're passing through on a Sunday, some museums open their doors to you for free (lucky you).

Between two exhibitions or a hike on the terrils, remember to look up... In Charleroi, art isn't hidden in the museums, it's also on display on the walls 👀
