Nature Festival "Kockeldiko": an unforgettable day with the family

On Sunday, July 5th, enjoy a wonderful day in the great outdoors with your family where your children can run, discover, tinker, observe animals, and have experiences up close with nature! 🐄🌾 Here we go, we take you with us to Kockelscheuer, to explain in a few words the program of this new edition of Kockeldiko, the nature festival organized by the City of Luxembourg 🇱🇺

When July and August arrive, (if you are like us 🤭) one desire drives us: to enjoy summer to the MAX-I-MUM. So, on the first Sunday of July, we swap screens for a day OFF-LINE! 😍 From 10 am to 6 pm, the younger ones can participate in creative and interactive workshops, sensory experiences, educational games, and activities specially designed to make them discover the ecosystems around them.

Here, the children become real explorers 🔎 They ask questions, manipulate, test, and leave with new knowledge without even feeling like they're learning. By the way, don't be surprised if the ride back turns into a full debriefing of all their discoveries 🤪

Because between workshops, games, animals, and treats, it's hard to know where to start. That's why we've prepared a little selection of the activities that caught our eye 👀

🐴 Start your day with a vintage ride 

As soon as you arrive, hop on a carriage ride and discover the site at the pace of the hooves! It's the ideal way to get into the spirit and spot the activities you definitely don't want to miss!

🐄 Head to the farm

Have you ever wondered what a cow eats in a day? And most importantly, how much? Neither have we. But now that we know the workshop exists, we absolutely want to know the answer 😌

Also take the opportunity to observe the farm animals, learn about their habits and even test your farming skills with a cow milking game. Spoiler: it’s trickier than it looks.

🐝 The little creatures will steal the show

The bees will be the stars of the day thanks to the educational apiary. From discovering the fascinating world of pollinators, tasting hive products, to the secrets of honey making, you might end up looking at your honey jar in a different light ;)

🪴 For budding gardeners

Want to get a green thumb? Pay a visit to the seedling workshops in the garden and an introduction to wild plants. You'll leave with some tips to impress everyone at the next family barbecue.

🪚 Hands-on skills (or almost)

Traditional forging, woodworking, cutting patterns with historical saws, wood carving, or the green wood workshop: here, you'll discover craftsmanship sometimes centuries old, which will fascinate your little ones as much as your partner.

Special mention for the workshop "From Grain to Stick Bread", which might just inspire some budding bakers.

We could go on and on because there's so much to discover on this day... Escape games, archery, stories, theater and magic, nature memory games, the goose game, straw bale playground, roller slides...

And even things to enjoy at the grills stands 🌭 and sweet treats 🧇
