A unique cultural tour of the Belval Blast Furnaces
Think you know Luxembourg? What if we told you that behind the modern campus of the University of Luxembourg lies a breathtaking piece of industrial history? Welcome to Belval, where the old blast furnaces still tell the story of the golden age of iron ore.
Today, these metal giants have become an unmissable cultural attraction.
Fancy playing explorers?
The Belval Blast Furnace, unique in Luxembourg, can be explored at your leisure. Climb to the furnace head, 40 meters high, for a spectacular view of the Belval district and the Science City. Wander at your own pace through the Möllerei, where the ore and coke were stored, and be amazed by the information panels that tell the fascinating story of pig iron and steel production. An immersive cultural experience that takes you on a journey through time!
For groups, the Belval Fund offers guided tours of the Blast Furnace, perfect for understanding:
- The production of cast iron and steel
- The redevelopment of industrial brownfield sites
- The exceptional architectural development of the Belval district
During the visit (which lasts 2 hours), you will access the blast tower and enjoy a unique panoramic view of the contemporary buildings and the City of Science.
And good news: a treasure hunt is also available for adults and children! Find the hidden clues with your guide map and decode the site's secrets to learn while having fun and become an expert on the workings of the blast furnace and the architectural wonders of Belval in 1.5 to 2 hours!
