Regular guided tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey of discovery of Italy's most iconic cities and regions. Spanning four centuries and featuring works by Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it showcases idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of everyday urban life. Common traits of the paintings are the southern light, the elegance of the architecture, the charm of the landscapes, and the omnipresence of antiquity. In addition to views of the mentioned five cities, there are capricci, imaginative compositions of ancient ruins in pastoral landscapes. Highlights include Roman squares painted by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), Venice by Canaletto (1697-1768), and the industrial city of Milan through futurist Umberto Boccioni's (1882-1916) perspective. At the exhibition's end, visitors of all ages can create their own digital collage capriccio. A painting corner and a quiz complement the family offer.
