Regular Guided Tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey exploring Italy's iconic cities and regions. Spanning three centuries, showcasing works by Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it displays idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of urban everyday life. The paintings are unified by southern light, architectural elegance, enchanting landscapes, and the omnipresence of Antiquity.
It also features capricci—imaginative compositions of ancient ruins amidst bucolic landscapes. Highlights include Roman squares by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), the Venice of Canaletto (1697-1768), and the industrial city of Milan depicted by the futurist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916).
At the end of the exhibition, visitors of all ages can create their own capriccio as a digital collage. A coloring corner and quiz complete the attractions for families with children.
