The British consul in Florence has just lost his wife. Shaken by grief, he shares the news with his eldest son, Andrea, but chooses to keep the truth from his younger son, Milo. Despite the games they share and their close bond, the two brothers are divided by their father's attitude: while he shows all his tenderness to little Milo, who suffers from fragile health, the consul neglects Andrea, whom he considers insensitive and irresponsible...
