This concert offers a meeting of two cultures, sometimes close, sometimes distant: American and English cultures.
Two works are on the program: John Rutter's requiem and Steve Dobrogosz's mass.
John Rutter is an English composer who, in his Requiem, blends contemporary writing techniques with sounds reminiscent of British pop. The atmospheres are sometimes dark and shimmering, following gentle and charming melodies.
Steve Dobrogosz's mass follows a very classical form. It is a jazz mass in the pure American tradition, accompanied by a solo pianist and a string ensemble.
This concert will be a journey through the sounds of today.
