Big Mother - Theatre
Between theatre and cinema, this performance uses the codes of investigative journalism to reveal the invisible mechanisms of mass manipulation. The story follows Julia Robinson, a journalist for New York Investigation, whose life changes when she thinks she recognizes her partner, thought dead for four years, among the defendants in a trial. Behind this personal enigma lies a sprawling investigation that exposes the far-reaching ramifications of a major political scandal. Algorithms, fake news, mass surveillance, manipulation, and social media are at the center of the story. In Big Mother, Mélody Mourey delivers a gripping dive into the murky underside of our digital democracies.
