The genocide of Sinti and Roma is one of the ignored crimes against humanity committed by National Socialists in Europe, including Luxembourg. The documentary Das falsche Wort (1987) gives voice to witnesses of the genocide who talk about their deportation, life in the camps, or forced sterilization, and share their experiences of ignorance and discrimination in post-war Germany.
The film screening is framed by an introduction about the situation of Luxembourger Sinti during the Nazi period by historians Daniel Thilman (C2DH) and Jérôme Courtoy (MNRDH), followed by a discussion between Yves Steichen (CNA) and Carmen Spitta, daughter of the filmmaker Melanie Spitta.
