Blood donation allows all blood components to be collected: red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, which are separated after collection. This is the most common type of donation. On the day of the donation, make sure you are in good health, have a balanced breakfast or lunch, and stay hydrated (water or fruit juice; avoid alcohol beforehand). Upon arrival, you will receive a personalized welcome and a preliminary questionnaire before a confidential medical interview with a healthcare professional. If there is a contraindication, the reasons will be explained and you can usually come back to donate later. The collection is done lying down and under supervision, with the volume adapted to each donor. After the donation, donors are offered a friendly snack.
