Criminal lawyer Tessa is highly successful and knows every trick to secure acquittals, even when the evidence initially seems overwhelming. She specializes in tough cases, especially sexual offenses, meticulously uncovering the prosecution’s mistakes.
The legal system is a precious asset, and in court, it’s not about emotions or morals—presumption of innocence applies until guilt is proven. But then, after a night of partying, her colleague Julian becomes abusive towards her. Suddenly, Tessa stands on the other side: not defending the accused, but accusing, having to provide evidence and arguments she used to refute.
In a courtroom she once dominated, she now feels completely helpless, falling into the very traps she once set for others.
Australian-British author Suzie Miller, herself a lawyer, brings this play to life in a courtroom setting, creating a powerful plea that reveals, from the victim’s perspective, the weaknesses of the justice system.
