Seun Kuti is today one of the leading figures in contemporary afrobeat, known for the intensity of his performances and the powerful social engagement of his music. The youngest son of legendary pioneer Fela Kuti, he continues his father's political and musical legacy at the head of Egypt 80, the historic band founded by Fela. A committed artist and pan-African activist, Seun Kuti never separates music from political consciousness.
Musically, Seun Kuti follows the tradition of afrobeat while bringing it a contemporary energy, with a sound based on complex polyrhythms, powerful brass sections, and politically engaged lyrics, enhanced by influences from jazz, hip-hop, and soul. With Egypt 80, he has released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Many Things", "From Africa with Fury: Rise", "A Long Way Beginning" and "Black Times". In 2024, his album "Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)" marks a milestone in his career.
