Ongoing workshop - participatory installation - Format 3 Magnet Wall, 2026
Open continuously from 10am to 4:30pm
Format 3 is an ongoing work by Danish artists Louise Foo and Martha Skou (FOO/SKOU) that explores how sound can be perceived through visual, physical, and virtual media. At its core is a graphic score composed of eighty-one symbols forming a musical alphabet. Using a custom app and spatial interfaces, visitors can activate the shapes to trigger sounds, samples, and syntheses, transforming the visual notation into an interactive sound environment. The work draws on the traditions of experimental music and graphic notation, extending them into spatial, tactile, and contemporary forms. In the version for état bruit at the Konschthal, an interactive magnetic wall functions as a collective visual score. Visitors can rearrange the symbols, allowing the composition to constantly evolve through audience participation. The visual score can also be transformed into a collage, with each visitor having the opportunity to take their creation home.

Performance - Occurrence by Jérôme Grivel 5:00 PM – 5:15 PM
In his performance series Occurrence, Jérôme Grivel explores what he calls "vocal gestures," a repertoire that blends traditional song, extreme musical techniques, and sounds pushing the boundaries of human capability. Equipped with a microphone and an effects pedal, he layers the sounds he produces, constantly increasing the volume of his voice to outperform the machine. This physical exertion competes with the technical reproduction, thus exploring the limits of the human body. The sounds create a rhythm where the immediate past overlaps with the present, like a palimpsest increasing in intensity. This forward, doomed race allows Grivel to establish a connection with various creative fields. In his performances, he works with areas of ambivalence as metaphors for our fluid identities and cries in the face of the absurdities of our societies.
