Corporealities of the Axis Syllabus in Movement
Masterclass series on the Axis Syllabus©, developed in the late 1990s by choreographer, dancer, and teacher Frey Faust. Originally conceived to promote dancers' health, Axis Syllabus now serves to achieve virtuosity and enhance the pleasure of movement. With the contribution of the Axis Syllabus Research Meshwork (ASRM), the book The Axis Syllabus©: Human Movement Lexicon is now in its sixth edition. Each day, a concept from the Axis Syllabus archive is offered to prepare the body for dancing, using theoretical and practical tools to facilitate healthy, effective, and conscious ways to move. Program:
- 27-28 May 2026: Baris Michi with Emanuela Iacopini "Feeling the invisible" – a workshop with informative tools for movement and creativity.
- 29 May 2026: Frey Faust "Going to Ground Floor-work" – tips to make floor work safer and more accessible.
- 30 May 2026: Francesca Pedullà "Arms from the Heart" – connecting the shoulder girdle, the first thoracic vertebra, and the diaphragm.
- 31 May 2026: Manuela Martella & Jérôme d'Orso "HANDS in Contact Improvisation" – the importance of hands in contact improvisation.
There will be a performance by the artists at 6pm on 31 May at VEDANZA STUDIOS as part of the DIVERSE Events 2026 program.
