At the dawn of the 20th century, the Austrian capital was animated by romanticism: grand orchestrations, emotionally charged stories, soaring lyricism, and nostalgia. For this concert, the Wiener Philharmoniker have selected two works that capture the spirit of the period: the famous "Rosenkavalier" by Richard Strauss and a more confidential "Sinfonietta" by the young Erich Korngold, who later became one of Hollywood's leading composers.
