Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean has invited the artist collective SUPERFLEX to develop a multi-phase project, culminating in a permanent artwork for the surrounding Park Dräi Eechelen. This yet-to-be-created piece aims to transform the park into a living space for all and strengthen connections between the museum and its environment. An initial participatory phase will take place throughout the summer of 2026, gathering ideas from park and museum visitors. Entitled “The Bank”, this phase sees the museum as a ‘bank of culture’, preserving and creating value. Visitors – especially children and playful adults – are invited to deconstruct the museum’s architecture and rebuild their own ‘bank’, expressing ideas and visions for the future of institutions. Using SUPERFLEX-designed molds, participants will make clay pieces inspired by Mudam’s architecture. These models will gradually form a growing ‘city of banks’ outdoors, interacting with weather and eventually returning to the soil. From this collective creation, SUPERFLEX will develop a proposal for a permanent installation for gathering, exchanging, playing and resting, placing participation and intergenerational dialogue at the core of the project.
